About Dr. Agarwal:

Ulka Agarwal, M.D., is an integrative medicine physician and board-certified psychiatrist. She completed medical school at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL, and her residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington School of Medicine, in Seattle, WA. She is a graduate of Dr. Andrew Weil's Integrative Medicine Fellowship and is board-eligible in Integrative Medicine. She previously served as Chief Medical Officer and Director of Clinical Research for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a research non-profit in Washington, DC. In this position, she conducted clinical trials on the effects of plant-based diets on migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic neuropathy pain, and mental health. She is currently Lead Physician and a psychiatrist at California State University, East Bay, in Hayward, CA, where she developed and leads a weekly employee wellness program on plant-based nutrition.

About Maria Clementi:

Join Vegan Ultrarunner, Yogi and chef, Maria Clementi to learn the details on what whole foods to eat before during and after exercise.  From HIIT, and the extreme dehydration of Bikram yoga to hours of non-stop running, Maria has fueled herself to perform at her best as a vegan athlete for over 5 years.  At this one time personalized presentation Maria will demonstrate Raw Jalapeno Cacoa Bites, Fig and Agave Rice Cakes and homemade vegan hydration mixes that will keep you at the front of the pack this summer.

Maria went vegan in 2009 after being convinced by a fellow runner that she could still express her passion for the culinary arts while gaining the physical advantages of eating a plant based diet.  After making the change she quickly noticed positive results in her performance, physical and mental, and found a real passion in the beauty and fresh tastes of vegan and raw food cooking.

Maria Clementi works as the demonstration chef for the Dr. John McDougall Medical Program in Santa Rosa.  Maria is constantly exploring healthy vegan lifestyle knowledge and recipes as the Healthy Eating Specialist at Whole Foods Market, Coddingtown.  She also works as a chef for Insalata's Catering and Chalk Hill Cookery.  With any extra time Maria is an avid Bikram yogi, and has completed 9 marathons and 14 ultra marathons (races over 26.2 miles) all on a vegan diet.
