In this very personalized class, learn simple yogic breath (pranayama) and meditation practices specifically tailored to your wellness goals, abilities & challenges.  Traditionally these practices have been used to:

  • Reduce stress & tension

  • Overcome back/neck pain or arthritis

  • Lose weight & feel stronger

  • Relieve fatigue, insomnia or depression,

  • Improve allergies or weak immune system

  • Feel calmer, more focused & more alive

BREATH PRACTICES ARE THE CORE OF HEALING:  Numerous scientific studies demonstrate that meditation and traditional yogic breath practices (Pranayama) can measurably improve a variety of physical, mental, and emotional challenges, including chronic pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and digestive or weight problems.  These practices were brought to the West by Baba Hari Das, one of the most revered yoga teachers who came to the West from India. He stressed the importance of studying breath practices because all human illness and suffering start from a lack of rhythm and/or capacity in breathing.  All suffering stems from identification with your thoughts, which is why meditation is so important for realizing we are not our thoughts.

CAN YOU SIT COMFORTABLY? To study breathing and meditation, it is important you be able to sit comfortably either in a chair or on blankets/bolster on the floor. If sitting is difficult for you, we encourage you to regularly attend one of the six Therapeutic Yoga Classes Integrated Healing offers (Monday-Friday, 7:00-8:15 AM and Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm) before attempting study of breathwork and this form of meditation.

Bart Church suffered from chronic pain and digestive problems in his early twenties and found amazing relief by studying therapeutic yoga for 10 years under senior Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers.  He then studied Pranayama, meditation, and Ayurveda under senior students of Baba Hari Das at Mt. Madonna Center, and has been teaching therapeutic yoga for more than 18 years.
