Description

This course will offer an interdisciplinary approach to improving patient outcomes by incorporating safe patient handling and mobility for specific profession-based tasks to reduce injury risk when completing lateral transfers, transfers out of bed, bed positioning, physical and occupational therapy, and positioning for procedures. Attendees will learn patient immobility risks and develop specific strategies for utilizing SPHM equipment to promote safe mobility for daily tasks such as patient transfers and floor recovery after a fall.


This class has been approved for 3 CEUs from the AzAPTA.


By the conclusion of the presentation, the learner will:

Identify the high-risk behaviors involving patient mobility and patient transfer

Discuss various SPHM strategies for reducing patient and caregiver risks

Demonstrate proficiency on the SPHM equipment utilized in the hands-on portion of the learning.
