Griff Hamilin Description
At just 41 years old, guitarist Griff Hamlin has already enjoyed a successful and varied career that has spanned nearly 3 decades. Griff released his first successful studio album in 2000 which earned an Orange County Music Award nomination for “Best Blues,” and has performed thousands of shows around the world including Blues Festivals in Poland and Lithuania. In 2010 Griff Hamlin and the Circle City Horns was formed with Griff’s wife, Laura, on saxophone. Griff Hamlin and the Circle City Horns’ fiery brand of blues/rock is full of soul and spirit that will bend your understanding of what the blues can be. The band excels at connecting with a crowd, and with the highest caliber of musicians and performers and a full horn section, they bring an element of excitement and showmanship the blues world hasn’t seen in many years. The rhythm section is filled out by Griff’s long time bass player, Mark Smith, and Chris Atchley on the drums. And most recently Seattle-area native Ty Bailie has been playing keyboards for the group, often going toe to toe with Griff on breathtaking improvised solo breaks. Joining Laura in the horn section are Mike Gaughan on the trumpet, and Ken Mengel on Trombone. Griff has recorded two solo albums, one of original blues/rock songs in 2000, and one live concert recorded in Krosno, Poland in May of 2004. His first album garnered him an Orange County Music Award nomination for “Best Blues.” In addition, he has performed on countless demo recordings, and several independently released albums, most notably by classical guitarist, Eric Henderson, who once humbly introduced Griff at a concert as “the greatest electric guitarist in the world.” Items Not Allowed
