Ballet Petit is so excited to bring its Nutcracker production back to the stage after staying virtual in 2020. Join us to enjoy a unique production of this beloved holiday ballet classic, cast with the delightful talents of the ballet students at Ballet Petit, a local classical ballet school located in Hayward.  

Clara receives an odd looking gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer, an wooden Nutcracker, which her brother breaks in a fit of sibling jealousy. Clara sneaks out of bed late at night and embarks on a magical dream, or was it a dream? 

Ballet Petit's 2021 Nutcracker production will debut 4 socially updated divertissements in Act 2, the Land of the SugarPlum Fairy. New concepts have been created to remove the traditional and familiar divertissments themes which have been needing change to reflect our times and awareness of harmful, racial stereotyping. Ballet Petit dancers and staff began this process during quarantine, and will reveal these 4 new vignettes in the Chocolate, Coffee, Tea, and Licorice segments in Act 2. We are very excited about these important and necessary updates to our production. Meanwhile, we are supporting our fellow ballet dancers and companies as many do the same.
