Description

Tonight we morph the State College of Florida President’s Courtyard into Le Hot Club de Pianopalooza! Slide on by for a relaxed concert of jazz treasures performed by a cool combo featuring SCF faculty members. Saxophonist Pete Carney, Director of Jazz Studies at SCF, has performed in major jazz festivals in the United States and across Europe, but he counts opening for B.B. King in a Mississippi cotton field among his greatest musical experiences. Don Bryn, Director of Theory and Keyboard Studies at SCF, has toured the globe with artists including Burt Bacharach and Lorna Luft. As a composer and arranger, Bryn has established a reputation for great versatility across genres and musical ensembles, from jazz band arrangements to original works for large orchestras. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move from the President’s Courtyard to the Recital Hall.
