Description

Jazz Fan you won't want to miss this one at the MCC PAC. The  and the MCC Jazz Ensemble are celebrating the music of Charles Mingus led Paul Brewer. Charles's soulful, blues, and gospel-soaked jazz compositions are considered classics and standards by many of today's jazz historians and musicians. The MPJE Jazz Ensemble are performing a variety of works providing a wonderful evening of Jazz music sure to entertain.

About the composer: Charles Mingus (1922-1979), a native of Nogales, Arizona, is an important bassist, bandleader, and composer in the history of jazz. Early in his career, he gained attention as a prodigal bassist and then as a bandleader/composer. He was a proponent of collective improvisation and many of his pieces include elements of Avant-Garde and Classical influences.

We hope you enjoy our selections from the library of Charles Mingus.
