Description
It is in the African Americans tradition to have reunions, get together to preserve family culture, share information, and celebrate each and every member that makes up the family. We don’t get together simply to party, eat potato salad, play Bid Whist and share laughs, No, its much deeper than that for us. Painful family histories bring us closer together. And like many traditions, reunions in African American culture, has its roots entangled in our African ancestry. The painful history we share, manifests itself in family nurturing, bonding, and intentional preservation. Slavery gave no respect to the black family, but still, we rose. We have made our own traditions and followed our own rituals to uphold our culture despite all the hardships that we have had against us. Festival of African American Arts and Entertainment will celebrate African American culture. |
