Description

J. Elaine Marcos has had an extensive and successful career on stage and screen by finding and using her unique self.  Join Department Chair, Roxane Carrasco as she talks with J. Elaine about her life in the performing arts, finding her way through the audition process, and diversity in casting.


With extensive credits on Broadway and in film and television, J. Elaine Marcos is known for her brilliant comedic timing and scene-stealing roles. She was in RENT: LIVE (Alexi Darling; FOX) and revisited the iconic show A CHORUS LINE as Valerie Clark. On Broadway, J. Elaine made her debut in MISS SAIGON, then continued to work in the revivals of FLOWER DRUM SONG, WONDERFUL TOWN, SWEET CHARITY, A CHORUS LINE (Connie), ANNIE (Lily St. Regis), THE WEDDING SINGER (Imelda Marcos), and the unforgettable PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT (Cynthia) Her return to Broadway in GETTIN’THE BAND BACK TOGETHER earned her Broadway’s iconic Legacy Robe (formerly known as the Gypsy Robe).
J. Elaine’s film appearances include MORNING GLORY, ST. VINCENT, BEFORE I DISAPPEAR, and the critically acclaimed documentary EVERY LITTLE STEP. Some TV credits include 2 Broke Girls, Grace and Frankie, 30 Rock, Law & Order: SVU.
She played to sold out crowds with her autobiographical one-woman show WHAT I DID FOR A …JOB.
J. Elaine also writes and produces her own comedy blog, Motivational Mondays with “V” on Instagram.
As a keynote speaker, she speaks at colleges around the world about Diversity in Casting and teaches virtually.
