This class offers an introduction to the basics of breath play- what it is, what it *isn't*, and specific discussion of the risks (and ways to reduce those risks). Miette, a medical professional, will review of the basic anatomy involved in breath control play, including a discussion of strangulation (aka "carotid play" or "blood chokes") vs. suffocation and existing health issues that may increase risk. Knowing the basics of lay rescuer CPR is a *must* for anyone who practices breath control play, so this class also includes brief CPR instruction and hands-on practice. There will be time for you to share your concerns, experiences and more. Note that this session is NOT how-to instruction on breath control play and there will not be demonstration of any breath control techniques.

Breath play can be an incredibly controversial kind of play. Our presenter, Miette Rouge, works to create a better understanding of the risks associated with breath play, why it can create risks, and how those to choose to engage in breath play can help to reduce *some* of the risks involved. Miette Rouge is a Board Certified Emergency Physician and trained educator who understands the intimacy and dynamics of BDSM.
