Doors 7:00PM / Show 8:00PM $15 Lowland Hum (Daniel & Lauren Goans) is making music that is decidedly quiet in the midst of our culture's present noisiness. The duo's self-imposed musical restraint provides space for their rich harmonies and skillful arrangements to fill rooms both large and small, and their sound is unmistakably their own. Following the 2019 release of their fourth full-length studio album Glyphonic, which garnered praise from NPR, No Depression, and more, the pair took their songs on a nationwide headlining tour where they employed the use of handmade lyric books, off-the-cuff songs and conversation with their audiences to create a refreshingly communal musical experience. When Nicholas Gunty and Brian Powers put their songs and their voices together, there is a delicate and powerful magic that commands the room to attention. The duo is known as Frances Luke Accord, and they are what NPR’s Mountain Stage calls “the definition of lean-in music.” Their soulful, effortless branch of indie-folk is orchestrated with spare and sophisticated acoustic threads woven into a lush backdrop for their intimate melodies. Rich, up-close tenor harmonies lend their timeless songwriting an urgency that honors the Simon & Garfunkel comparisons but pushes beyond into the world of Bon Iver, Jose Gonzalez, and progressive folk music.
