Colson Barkley Description
Ear Training for Musical Theater - Ages 12 and up Improve your musical ear, gain confidence in your intonation. Improve your ability to quickly learn music on your own when auditioning. This class is designed to improve your musical ear! You will learn how to better hear music off the page and you will gain confidence in your intonation. This will improve your ability to learn music on your own more quickly and more correctly. When learning a show or audition side, you will then have more independence as a performer to work on your performance. Colson has been working as an actor at Disneyland for the past six years and got to spend a several seasons Christmas caroling in Disney California Adventure and Knott’s Berry Farm with Mixed Company’s Handbell Carolers. Mr. Barkley also directs a small choir at Calvary Chapel High School and teaches full time at Independent Learning Academy in Aliso Viejo directing their choral program. Colson’s musical background and education is mostly classical: his bachelor’s degree is in music composition from the Wheaton College Conservatory outside Chicago, where he also studied choral conducting and was selected to be an honors conductor for the program’s top choir. Post college, he was an auditioned member of the Pacific Chorale, the choice choir for Segerstrom’s Pacific Symphony, and learned even more about choral music from the best in the area.
