Description

A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare adapted by Cass Foster is a comedy written by William Shakespeare that portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta (the former queen of the Amazons). These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.

(Suitable for all audiences)

A Piece of My Heart by Shirley Lauro is a powerful, true drama of six women who went to Vietnam: five nurses and a country western singer… The play portrays each young woman before, during, and after her tour in the war-torn nation and ends as each leaves a personal token at the memorial wall in Washington. Martha, Whitney, Sissy, and Leeann are young and ready to serve their country in whatever ways needed. They intend to nurse the ailing boys in the war effort back to health, but the horrors are greater than they ever could’ve imagined. Steele is an officer who is underappreciated, undervalued, and under prepared for the daunting tasks at hand. MaryJo uses her voice and her country western guitar to entertain the troops; the troops use MaryJo to entertain themselves. This production tells the story of these six women who gave themselves over to their country and how it affected them for years to come. The Vietnam War story has been told before, though not nearly as often as it should, and it has never been told like this.
