Conference Agenda - Full Day Educational Sessions

September 26, 2019 Thursday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

7:30a - 8:15a - Registration and Breakfast

8:15a - 8:30a - Welcome, Announcements, Open Positions & Chapter News  Joanie Nei, President, MCAHRMM Board

8:30a - 9:30a   Cybersecurity in the Age of Connected Medical Devices Presenter Sarah R. Jobb, CISSP  Mayo Clinic

Cybersecurity is a top concern within the healthcare industry.  In addition to addressing cybersecurity risk in traditional technology such as workstations and servers, medical devices also need consideration.  The Mayo Clinic has developed a strategy to reduce cybersecurity risk in the procurement of critical medical device infrastructure.  This presentation will share eight proactive actions to reduce medical device cybersecurity risk, as well as the role suppliers can play in this effort.

9:40a - 10:40a  Sustainable Supply Chain, NOT an Oxymoron Presenters Dana Slade, CHMM, Laura Babcock, Ph.D., & Dustin Maddy,  LEED-AP Members of the steering committee of the Healthcare Environmental Awareness and Resource Reduction Team (HEARRT)

Dana Slade, Laura Babcock, and Dustin Maddy all serve on the steering committee of the Healthcare Environmental Awareness and Resource Reduction Team (HEARRT), a professional organization that connects healthcare professionals to encourage and support sustainable efforts that improve the environment, community health, and reduce costs.

The role of a hospital purchasing department includes balancing things like clinical need, cost, availability, contracts, and other competing demands. The thought of adding green purchasing goals, reducing chemicals of concern, and, dare we say it, calculating lifecycle costs can be a nonstarter in the purchasing office. Dana, Laura, and Dustin will share their experiences with green purchasing and the successes they have found.

10:40a - 12:00p - Vendor Fair - Floor is open to vendor expo for the first 20 paid sponsorships

12:00p - 12:40p - Lunch

12:50p - 1:50p - Value-Adding Strategies for Creating a Strong Supply Chain Presenter Myla Mahoney, MBA Vice President, Strategic Accounts, Premier, Inc.

The healthcare supply chain is typically viewed as a cost center, but if leveraged to its full potential, it can be a place of value creation.  Strengthening the supply chain is key to lowering healthcare costs and improving outcomes within a healthcare organization.  This session will go over innovative, value-adding strategies and what the future holds for healthcare supply chain leaders.

2:00p - 3:00p - Value Analysis Presenter Bill Hyers Manager, Premier’s Performance Partners, Premier, Inc.

Data is paramount in continuing the efforts to achieve CQO and reaching the triple aim!  Through an integrated culture, best in class supply chain practices and data-driven insights can maximize savings and help make a substantial difference in health care organizations.  Attendees will hear how supply chain operations impacts total costs for a health care organization. Attendees will also gain a thorough understanding of often overlooked leading practices in the health care supply chain, such as utilization control and assessing information.

3:00p - 4:00p - Doing business in a Global Economy Presenter Sean Smith, Director of Strategic Accounts, Cardinal Health

A look into how tariffs are impacting the supply chain and the work being done with both industry groups and governmental partners.

CMRP and Nursing: 5.0 contact hours
