Wes Hunter

Scott Nicholas

Experience an intimate evening of heartfelt and hilarious stories over your favorite cocktails at The Duplex. This lgbt-friendly show exposes the coming out and dating adventures of singer Wes Hunter through selections from musical theatre composers. A truly queer cabaret, this evening promises a night of entertainment through songs you know and love. Featuring Scott Nicholas as music director/pianist. 2 drink minimum per ticket.

Singer Wes Hunter, praised for his "drama, heart, and shining tone,” is emerging as a charismatic interpreter of both standard repertoire and new works. A native Floridian, Hunter now resides in Boston where he performs a variety of styles ranging from Baroque opera to new concert works. Hunter debuted his solo cabaret to a sold-out audience at Club Café  in Boston, featuring a wide array of musical theatre songs. Other recent credits include the title character in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory (Lowell House Opera), Oronte in Handel’s Alcina (Opera del West), Laurie in Adamo’s Little Women (MassOpera), Michael the Archangel in the workshop of Julian Wachner's Rev 23 (Beth Morrison Projects), and the premiere of Eugene in Leo Hurley’s The Body Politic (Juventas New Music Ensemble).

Based in Boston, music director Scott Nicholas is an accomplished pianist known as much for exceptional sensitivity to the performers he accompanies as for his technique. Described as, "sensitive and adroit in underscoring the changing moods, at first playful, then regal and majestic," his repertoire spans classical and musical theater works. Scott has appeared throughout the U.S. and internationally in solo and chamber performances and has accompanied such preeminent singers as Nancy Armstrong, Robert Honeysucker, and Jessica Cooper. In addition, he has served as the rehearsal and performance pianist for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the Borromeo String Quartet, the US Airforce Clarinet Ensemble, Longwood Opera, the Minnesota Opera, the Boston Secession, the Concord Women's Chorus, Boston Lyric Opera's outreach programs and the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition, among others.

An experienced music director, he has served in that capacity for several organizations including the New England Conservatory Opera Workshop, Central Square Theater, Franklin Performing Arts Company, Suffolk University, and Emerson College.
