More people suffer from Lymphedema than MS, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, Parkinson’s Disease, and AIDS. Combined. But we don’t talk about this incurable disease. WHAT ABOUT US: Living with Lymphedema brings you Tina Himaya’s story, from diagnosis to one hundred nights in hospitals to today, where she is an advocate for more research, funding, and visibility. Through song and storytelling, Tina finds her voice as a person living with Primary Lymphedema. She encourages those who suffer silently from this disease to stand up and make their stories known. This is her story, but it’s our fight.

WHAT ABOUT US: Living with Lymphedema

TINA HIMAYA: Tina is honored and humbled to be performing in yet another benefit to raise awareness for Lymphedema and Lymphatic disease. She’s been an advocate for the cause for as long as she can remember, and has been following LE&RN since it was LRF (The Lymphatic Research Foundation). In the last year, Tina’s gotten more involved with the organization, and she’s extremely thankful to Bill, Colleen, Pam, Laura and everyone else at LE&RN for all their hard work and support. She’d also like to thank  Phyllis Fried, and Dr. Shiela Ridner for their contributions in making this show a success. She marched alongside Kathy Bates on Capital Hill during Lobby Day to help persuade the NIH to allocate money to Lymphatic Research. She also had the opportunity to sing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Lincoln Memorial before LE&RN’s Run/Walk in DC in 2018. Tina will be honored at The New York State Capital in Albany in March, 2019 for her efforts to raise funding and awareness for Lymphatic Disease.
