Founded in 1970 by Joan Myers Brown, PHILADANCO was created to provide needed opportunities for dancers of color who were then systematically denied entrance to dance schools. Today, it is one of the world’s most reputed touring companies, celebrated for its artistic integrity, superbly trained dancers and electrifying performances. Steeped in the principles of opportunity, inclusion and hope, PHILADANCO bridges cultural divides and consistently performs for sold-out audiences.
