The Craig Yancey Quartet will perform on April 21, 2018, on stage at The Diamond Valley Arts Center (DVAC), 123 N. Harvard Street, in historic Hemet downtown.  One of Hemet's native sons, Yancey left for Las Vegas.  There he performed in all of the major showrooms, lounges, clubs, studios, and for Broadway production shows.  He was on stage with such Vegas favorites as Wayne Newton, Donna Summer, Kenny Rogers, Lou Rawles, Tony Lujan, The Four Tops, and The Temptations. 

Since then, Yancey has performed throughout the Southwest as both a solo artist and with his quartet.  He has mastered such diverse instruments as the clarinet, the saxophone, and the flute.  He said, “I believe that everyone has a sound or musical voice inside of them, and when they are exposed to that sound, it resonates (or speaks) to them.  Woodwind instruments do that for me.”

Yancey has been a professional musician and music educator for over 40 years.  Currently, he teaches for Mt. San Jacinto College and for the Menifee public schools.  His jazz and symphonic bands have consistently received superior ratings.  Yancey is very active as an adjudicator/clinician for jazz, concert band, solo, and ensemble festivals.  He was selected as Artist of the Month last June by The Menifee Arts Council.  We are excited to have The Craig Yancey Quartet back on our DVAC stage!

All tickets are available at www.thedvac.org or by stopping by The DVAC Wednesdays through Saturdays 11 am to 5 pm.  The concert begins at 7:00 pm, but doors open about 6:30 pm.  Parking on Harvard Street and in the Hemet City Lot is free.  Wine and other beverages will be available for purchase.
