Kelly Corbin Description
The Kelly Corbin Trio will be back at the Diamond Valley Arts Center for Wine Art and Jazz on Saturday, November 18th, 2017. Admission is $20 for Members and $25 for General Admission. Student tickets are $10 for Online Pre-Sale and $15 at the door. Guests receive two beverages with their ticket. Tickets are available online at www.thedvac.org or by stopping by the art center. Currently, Dr. Kelly Corbin is the band director at Twentynine Palms Junior High School and saxophone instructor at College of the Desert, and Riverside Community College Dr. Corbin's formal music education began at the community college level with College of the Desert, Copper Mountain College, and Riverside Community College. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Northridge, his Master of Music degree from California Institute of the Arts, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champain in Jazz Studies. His doctoral thesis is entitled "The Musical Language of Saxophonist Chris Potter." As a performer, Dr. Corbin has performed all over the United States with The Temptations, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Larry Koonse, and Marshall Hawkins. Joining Dr. Corbin is Dr. Jeremy Brown and bassist Blayke White. They will be playing originals and standards. Wine Art and Jazz is a fundraiser for The DVAC and its programs. Guests receive two glasses of wine or other beverage and access to the current gallery exhibition as well as the concert. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm.
