Description

The “King Of Swing’s” Big Band recordings of the 1930’s & 40’s are instantly recognizable and still popular today.  But Benny Goodman also featured a great small band - a trailblazing ensemble that was considered the first openly integrated band performing in concert halls and in movies.  Paul Cosentino and the Boilermaker Jazz Band bring the energy and delicate swing of this iconic group to you, performing some of their best-known material. You’ll also hear some of your favorite Goodman Big Band melodies, done small band style.  Boilermaker’s vocalist Jennifer McNulty and SRT’s Jennifer Porter will bring you selections by Benny’s Gals, including hits by Peggy Lee, Liltin’ Martha Tilton, Helen Ward and Helen Forrest, backed by some of the finest Jazz musicians in the country.  This concert is not to be missed!
