Come for a night of summer love, Avant-Garde and harmony. Voices of Silicon Valley is presenting composer Stockhausen's work Stimmung.

This avant-garde soundscape piece combines harmonic overtones sung in modular sequence with erotic poetry recital in German to invoke inevitable sensations deep down in us. It's wicked, strange and intimate all at the same time. It's paranoia and magic. It's love in sounds and shapes.

This is only the 3rd time ever for Stimmung to be performed in San Francisco since 1974, the origin place of summer love and Stockhausen's initial source of inspiration. As the timing of its composition approximates San Franciscos Summer of Love, Stimmung aligns itself with its ideals of universal love, religious unity, and meditation. It is accomplished through the deeply meditative nature of the work as well as the use of a variety of Magic Names that come from many different world religion traditions.

The program will also feature Missa Luba, an African rhythm inspired Latin Mass. The performance will be dedicated to the memory of artists and musicians who died in the Ghost Ship fire in Oakland in December of 2016.
