"Ms. Y is Singing!" is a cabaret fundraiser for Ms. Y's non-profit summer theater program, Shake It Out, Inc.  Ms. Y will take you on a journey singing her most beloved songs, reflecting her own personal journey to the theater and back again. 

 

Noreen has a B.A. in Performance from SUNY New Paltz.  She worked as a professional actress for a few years after graduation before deciding that education was her new calling.  In 2007, Noreen received her M.A. in Theatre Education from Emerson College.  After graduation, Noreen began actively seeking opportunities to work with urban youth from underserved communities in Boston, MA.  Noreen began working in the class room as part in a year-long internship at the Boston Arts Academy (Boston’s public high school for the fine and performing arts).  Noreen then worked for almost three years at Phoenix Charter Academy, a charter school in Chelsea, MA serving students who were previous high school drop-outs, court-involved, teen parents, or otherwise not succeeding in traditional public schools.  For the past 3 years, Noreen has taught English Language Arts at a small independent charter middle school in Brooklyn, NY.  She is thrilled to have this opportunity to raise money for Shake It Out, Inc.  and return to the stage.  She would like to thank John for his unwavering love and support, Claudia Catania for helping her rediscover her voice, Ben Houghton for playing and Michelle Maccarone for directing.
