Jeremy Brown announces his first jazz album of original music. The album, "JB4", involves top-shelf Southern California musicians playing hints of swing, funk and blues. On Saturday, May 24th at 7:00pm, Dr. Jeremy Brown and his Quartet will perform tunes from his Album LIVE at The Esplanade Arts Center, located at 2181 W. Esplanade Ave., San Jacinto, Ca 92583.

Drummer Jeremy Brown's jazz quartet stretches out on his original compositions, at times, with reckless abandon. Echoes of classic jazz and blues with worldwide musical influences. You can purchase JB4 Online now at CD Baby.

"This is my dream record!  Last year, I got up the gumption to record my compositions with some of my favorite jazz artists, players who LIVE this music, and who aren't afraid to take risks.  The result is an album of adventurous playing and beautiful sounds," according to Brown.

Jeff Ellwood, tenor saxophone.  Hamilton Price, bass.  Matt Politano, piano.  Each one of these guys is very accomplished, and is among the ranks of first call jazz musicians in Southern California.  Each brings a strong and original voice to the table, and each has a very loose and interactive approach to music-making. "I'm proud to bring Hamilton Price onto the project.  He and I first met as students at the University of Texas at Austin."  Hamilton swung from day one but he's come a long way since then, working regularly with Billy Childs and Peter Erskine, along with countless other exciting records and tours.  Jeff Ellwood and Matt Politano have been involved in some amazing projects, as well.  "This was a band that I knew would let the music breathe and bring the notes on the page to life!"

"There's a mix of brand new tunes and music I wrote years ago on this album.  Some of my old friends will recognize "Minotaur" and "Koja? Inja."  I wrote others during the days leading up to the recording sessions, with this specific band in mind ("Toys," "b'Da b'Da b"Da b'Dat," and "The Wiggle").  A couple of the songs were dedicated to my sons.  "On the Verge" and "Hop Scotch" originated as big band compositions, part of a three-part Kid Suite (to be released soon, as well).  "Hop Scotch" is dedicated to both boys, a goofy rollicking New Orleans swamp groove that paints the picture of their day-to-day adventures."

Dr. Jeremy Brown is the Chair of Music and Director of the Menifee Jazz Ensemble at Mt. San Jacinto College in southern California.  Jeremy is active in music performance and education throughout Southern California, working with many of the finest musicians and educators.  A debut Jeremy Brown Quartet jazz recording and his new book Jazz and Blues: Crossroads and Evolution are slated for will be release in 2014.  Other recent projects include “On the Verge,” a piece for big band inspired by his second son, and setting the poetry of Tennessee Williams to music in Experiment in a Glass.

Before moving to California, Jeremy earned a Master and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.  In the flourishing music scene of Austin Jeremy was in high demand as a drummer and percussionist, working nightly with Austin’s finest musicians in jazz, blues, rock, classical, and beyond including Tony Campise (Stan Kenton), guitarist Eric Johnson, Mitch Watkins, Seth Walker, Drew Smith and Grammy award-winning saxophonist/arranger Mace Hibbard.  In his last year in Texas, he toured with Chicago – The Musical.

Jeremy was a member of Disney All-Star College Bands in Florida and in Paris.  He was awarded a scholarship to attend the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles.  Jeremy has shared the stage with internationally-known musicians and composers such as Kenny Garrett, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Christian McBride, Jerry Goldsmith, Eddie Daniels, and Mike Stern.
