Lourdes Simón sings tangos and her favorite boleros of her native Cuba as well as other favorites, including her thought-provoking verse, accompanied by Pablo Zinger on piano. Simón's professional experience includes musical performances, performance poetry, dramatic and musical theater and film. “La Simón” has showcased her musical talents in Latin America, Italy, Miami and now New York. She captivates audiences with her daring verses and unique style “because there’s a voice within me that will not be still,” says Simón. Her CD Lourdes Simón poemas y feeling Vol. I (www.cdbaby.com/cd/lourdessimon ) is a collection of her poetry and classic boleros. Uruguayan-born New Yorker Pablo Zinger is widely known as a conductor, pianist, composer, arranger, writer, lecturer and narrator, specializing in the music of Astor Piazzolla, tango, Spanish zarzuela, and Latin American music. He has performed throughout the Americas an in Spain, Russia, Poland, Slovenia, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Greece, Germany and Norway. He accompanied Plácido Domingo at Washington’s Constitution Hall, conducted the closing of Paquito D’Rivera’s Carnegie Hall 50th Anniversary Concert, played and conducted the Moscow première of Piazzolla’s María de Buenos Aires, narrated Piazzolla’s Pueblo Joven at Tokyo’s Opera City and accompanied legendary Spanish diva Sarita Montiel in NYC and the NYC debut of Plácido Domingo Jr. He has written the music and lyrics for the tango Latin-Jewish musical Bela, with book by Ilan Stavans. His musical Las tentaciones de González (Tiene la muerte atada) was premièred in NYC in May 1999 to a rave review by the NY Times.
