Description

There are currently four generations in the workplace in the US. While differences between generations have been in play for centuries, longer life spans and a healthier population in the western world have meant that those in their 20s are working alongside those in their 60s and 70s far more routinely than has been true in the past. In addition, the communication transformation brought about by the world-wide web, cell phones, iPads and other digital devices have radically altered not only views of leadership, authority and work-life balance, but how individuals relate to each other. This presentation will focus on characteristics of the different generations (the World War II generation (1925-1945), the Baby Boomers (1946-1964), Generation X (1965- 1981) and the Millennials (1982-2000) and the challenges their different approaches bring to the medical environment of the 21st century.
