Description
Course provides 6 CEU

Children and adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD's) struggle with many of the cognitive skills that everyday situations demand of us. When they cannot meet expectations, people in their life often believe they are intentionally defiant, oppositional, lazy, or unintelligent.

In this one-day workshop, Nate will share the logic of Cognitive Supports™, a model developed over a decade of working with children and adults with FASD’s and various developmental disabilities.

In addition to giving participants specific, concrete steps that they can begin to use immediately, Nate provides tools that will help those attending begin to think about the person they support in a different way. When we do this, it lays the groundwork for deeper connection, appreciation for strengths, and building up of current skills.

In this 6-hour online workshop, participants will:

  • Be given practical tools to understand the cognitive struggles and strengths of those with FASD’s
  • Be able to start re-thinking many behaviors and expectations through a "Cognitive Skills Lens", allowing for individualization in any setting
  • Learn about a proactive framework and be given ideas of what to do when things don’t go according to plan
