Focusing on knit fabrics (like those in sweaters, socks, and T-shirts), we'll learn about how these fabrics are made and how to fix them. We'll practice darning, duplicate stitch, patching by machine, and even a little needle felting. Everyone is welcome in this workshop, from beginners who have never sewn a stitch before to experienced fiber artists looking for more ways to add unique touches and extend the life of their handmade garments. Come to this session only, or pair it with the workshop on mending woven fabrics for a complete suite of mending techniques.

Students should bring: Clothing and other textile items that need mending; these can be sweaters, socks, T-shirts, and anything else that is made of knitted fabric. You can work on as many items as time permits. Note: Please bring items clean. Woolens, delicates, and things that are coming apart can be gently hand washed.

Small sewing tools such as scissors, needles, pins, a thimble, etc. If you don't have these don't worry, there will also be tools for you to use during class. 

Optional: You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine (in good working order, please bring the manual as well). There will be materials provided for you to use, but you are also welcome to bring any scraps of fabric, yarn, or threads you'd like to incorporate in your mending. Supplies included. Age 16+. Minors permitted with parent or guardian. Both minor and adult must purchase tickets for and attend workshop.
