Massimiliano Pagliara (Ostgut Ton, Live at Robert Johnson):

Massimiliano Pagliara was born in Tricase (Lecce) in the deep south of Italy. Already as a child, he listened to diverse types of music: rap, classical, reggae, dub and 60s rock'n'roll. Coming from this small village, he and his friends created a small musical world for themselves, spending a lot of time every day playing records in his basement and at private parties.

Upon moving to Milan in 1997, Massi embarked on an academic career and eventually earned his diploma in theatre, dance and choreography at the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in 2001. While discovering the fashionable and alternative club scene of the city, his imagination was captured by experimental electronic music such as Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Autechre and Mira Calix. Naturally these avant-garde sounds eventually found their way into Massi’s original body of work.

After finishing school he ventured to Europe’s underground capital Berlin, where he continued his studies in contemporary dance, but also dived into the city’s explosive techno nightlife, particularly the renowned Ostgut. Massi’s interest in electronic music found its peak in 2003 when he finally began to pursue DJing with a passion.

Ever since he’s been spinning at some of the most popular underground venues in Germany (among them Tape Club, Berghain/Panorama Bar, SchwuZ, Tresor, ://about blank (Berlin) and Robert Johnson (Frankfurt/Offenbach)) as well as playing across the world.

Massi describes his style as an eclectic mix of house, disco, electro and techno – one may call it current-yet-classic. DJing has since led to production, these days Massi lets his obsession with analog synths run wild, usually he’s holed up in his apartment studio, working on his latest productions. But he’s not always alone. Massi has been collaborating with luminaries around town such as Gui.Tar, Snax, Lemercier & The Lala by, Molly Nilsson and Discodromo. The two members of Gui.Tar and Massi later formed [sic!], since 2010 he's been collaborating with Rotciv – as The Rimshooters. Massi also released an EP on Apersonal Music under the alias Egyptian Nipples together with Jules Etienne.

Josh Cheon (Dark Entries Records):

Josh Cheon grew up in suburban New Jersey, 15 minutes outside of New York City where he spent his weekends dancing at goth club The Bank and digging for records. He held internships at Metropolis Records, Beggars Banquet/4AD, Matador and DFA before moving to San Francisco in 2006. Josh was a member of queer DJ collective Honey Soundsystem from 2007 to 2017. His love of underground 80s music pushed him to start Dark Entries in 2009, a record label specializing in reissuing lost music from that time as well as contemporary bands referencing those analog sounds.

Dark Entries was born in the spring of 2009 to release out of print and unreleased underground music as well as contemporary bands. A project of Josh Cheon, a vinyl-focused DJ and collector, Dark Entries takes great care in preserving sound quality and respecting the aesthetics of its artists. All of their releases are a carry over from the DIY days of the 1980s independent record labels. Dark Entries entrusts all of their projects with the best engineer in the state, George Horn at Fantasy Studios, who has remasters each release using his 50+ years of knowledge in the industry.

Chris Cruse DJ (Spotlight LA):

Founder and resident of queer Spotlight party in Los Angeles.

Part of Los Angeles' warehouse scene since 2001.

Chris Cruse is a Los Angeles-based DJ whose sound is equally influenced by dark warehouses and West Coast sunshine. Frequently playing events in the US and Europe, his mainstay is a party of his own creation, Spotlight, which aims to reclaim and celebrate the queer roots of house, techno, disco, and other forms of dance music. Despite abstaining from social media promotion and discouraging dance floor photography, Cruse’s Spotlight has quietly become the go-to event for underground music in LA thanks to its anything-goes vibe and consistent world-class bookings.
