Description
Sandii Castleberry and Hot Flash will perform Saturday August 5th, 2017, at The Diamond Valley Arts Center, located at 123 N. Harvard St., Hemet, Ca 92543. Doors open at 6:30pm with the show starting at 7:00pm. Admission is $15 for Members and $20 for Non-Members. Student tickets are $10 for Pre-Sale and $15 at the door.

Bluegrass and modern folk are the styles of music that set the foundation for "Hot Flash."  Its founding members are three female musicians over the age of fifty with a sense of humor, as their band name insinuates. Sandii Castleberry, Kathleen Johnson and Anne Finch have been making and playing music together in Idyllwild since 2012, and long before that in many different groups. Their friendship and mutual interest in performing brought them together to form this group.

Joining in for many of the performances is Anne's husband renowned jazz pianist Barnaby Finch, whose contributions give the band extra flair.  Musician Don Reed from Idyllwild occasionally joins in on mandolin and dobro, and Arizona banjoist Gordon Acri has played and recorded with the group. "When the men join us, we become "Hot Flash and Men of Pause," quips Sandii.

In 2015, the band cut a CD entitled:   Hot Flash and Men of Pause:  "The Fallbrook Sessions."  The CD was recorded at fellow friend and musician Dave Blackburn's Fallbrook studio in two days. The CD has 15 songs covering bluegrass, folk, country, instrumentals, original material, and pop classics.  "The CD has something for everyone," says Sandii.

The band will be in concert at the Diamond Valley Art Council's performance venue on Saturday, August 5th at

7 p.m., and will include Sandii Castleberry on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Kathleen Johnson on autoharp and vocals, Anne Finch on bass and vocals, Barnaby Finch on keyboards and vocals, and Don Reed on mandolin and dobro.

Since Kathleen moved to Central California last year, the band performs much less frequently, so you will not want to miss this rare opportunity to see "Hot Flash and Men of Pause." performing live in Hemet on August 5th.

MUSIC AT THE CENTER is a fundraiser for The DVAC and its programs.  Beverages will be available for purchase. Guests have access to the current gallery exhibition as well as the concert.  Doors open at 6:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm.
