Explore the science and spirituality of mindfulness in relation to BDSM in this interactive workshop led by sex educator and researcher Melody Anne (otherwise known as the infamous MelodyExtreme on FetLife), and mindfulness meditation expert Ian Snow (a.k.a. 150 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal)! The practice of bringing intentional awareness and nonjudgmental acceptance to the present moment can facilitate deeper, more rewarding scenes for tops and bottoms alike! During this class we will outline the basics of mindfulness, discuss the similarities between BDSM and mindfulness meditation, geek out on exciting new research about mindfulness, sex, pain, and kink, and explore the intimate relationship between sexuality and spirituality. Come prepared to meditate, open your heart and mind, and get inspired to be mindfully kinky! He has also been practicing BDSM for twenty years, with a passion for presence, energetic opening, and subs wearing opaque black tights and bite marks. He teaches his "BDSM and Meditation" course to help people have both their tree's branches grow towards the sun of pure spirit while their roots sink down in the dark dirt of shit-kicking nasty sex. Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Melody Anne is a kinkster-turned-presenter with over a decade of experience in the BDSM community. As an Options for Sexual Health-certified* adult sexuality educator with a degree in Psychology and Critical Studies in Sexuality, Melody Anne considers herself a semi-professional sex geek, spending her time working and volunteering at two sexuality research labs.
