Description
Desert Echoes Flute Project (DEFproject) is Arizona's premiere flute ensemble organization and includes the large flute orchestra/choir, the Chamber Flute Choir and smaller ensembles include sextets, quartets and trios. The members are from the Phoenix metropolitan area include professional flutists, music educators, college students and community musicians who are enjoy playing the flute. 

DEFproject will venture into the world of jazz with their Oct. 7 concert, Jazz Fling, featuring guest soloist Hugh Lovelady on alto saxophone playing "Wave" and "Misty." The Flute Choirs will also performs "Monk's Groove, " "Insomniac Blue," " Under the Sun" and Valerie Coleman's "Pontchartrain."

Hugh Lovelady is the former director of the Young Sounds of Arizona, an award winning youth jazz orchestra in Phoenix. Their first CD under his leadership, “Ringers” gained national attention in Downbeat magazine. 

He currently is a residential faculty member at MCC and a first call player for lead alto saxophone in jazz bands and woodwind doubler in for national Broadway touring shows and national entertainer acts in Phoenix including Johnny Mathis, Bernadette Peters, Michael Feinstein, and Tony Bennett.

Performing Arts Center - Lap Policy 

While most performances are suitable for the entire family, some programs may contain adult themes/language. Please use discretion and consider the other audience members when deciding whether to bring infants and small children to a performance. If you have question, please contact the Box Office.

Small infants and children 2 and under that are seating on a lap and not occupying a seat are free.  Any child more than 2 years of age requires a ticket when attending the MCC Performing Arts Center.
