Description
TEF Accelerated Summer School runs June 13th - July 8th (Four weeks total). Independence Day on Monday, July 4th, is a Holiday and class will not be in session. DESCRIPTION TEF Summer Classes for High School Students are accelerated courses offered in collaboration with the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD), which serves as the accreditation body for high school credits earned. VB ECONOMICS is a broad-ranging survey course designed as a practical study of the functions of economic systems and a study of the American market economy. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and rational analysis of the scope of economic concepts as well as international trade. HOW DO VIRTUAL BLENDED (VB) CLASSES WORK? Students attend class on the first day. They are given accounts with directions on how to use the online system. students work independently on the content provided via APEX virtual school http://www.apexlearning.com/ The teacher communicates to the student on second day via email or through the system. Students work independently until they reach the end of a unit, usually by Wednesday of the first week. The teacher will give each student a time line. at the end of the unit, there is a teacher-scored test which all students must proctor. Before each test, the teacher gives student instructional review for Q&A for students to resolve and questions. These testing days take place twice a week after the first week. The teacher communicates with student via email or through the system on the non-testing days. Students should know that the complete course is about 90 hours of online instruction. Some students may work faster, and thus their time is reduced. Questions? Please contact Brian Balaris, Temecula Advantage Virtual School, Sparkman Alternative Education Center, bbalaris@tvusd.k12.ca.us.
TEF courses are intended for students who wish to increase their level of coursework in a content area beyond what they could accomplish within a standard 4-year high school schedule. Students successfully completing these courses will gain skills, knowledge, and experience needed for success in the next course in the sequence.
